Hilgartner Natural Stone Company Tour
On Tuesday, June 12, Thomas Doyle, owner of the Hilgartner Natural Stone Company, will conduct a tour of the companys south Baltimore facility for AIABaltimores monthly program.
The original business was founded in 1863. Ludwig Hilgartner, a stone cutter who immigrated to the United States from Germany, and Gottfried Schimpf, a stone mason, joined together to found what was then called Schimpf and Hilgartner. The company has operated continuously in Baltimore since that time. Today, the Hilgartner Natural Stone Company finishes imported and domestic stone into architectural components.
Learn how marble, granite, limestone and other stone products are fabricated into finished countertops, bases, and other items by observing the actual process.
Refreshments begin at 5:30 pm; program at 6. 101 W. Cross Street, between the Ravens stadium and Cross Street Market. The cost is $10 for members/$5 interns and students/$20 non-members. Please send your check to AIABaltimore. Space is limited. 1 AIA/CES (HSW) credit with registration.
