MEP Coordination: A Key Ingredient to a Successful Project

Thursday, May 23, 2002

The AIA Baltimore Professional Affiliates and Associates Committees are pleased to bring another interactive program to the associate members. Join us in a role reversal between the mechanical engineers and designers where they will switch hats and try, to understand and appreciate the important issues that impact each others work such as: above-ceiling coordination, floor plan coordination, efficient transfer of electronic information, and the effect of changes on the design. The goal is to provide an experience that promotes a team approach in successfully coordinating the MEP layout with the overall building design intent during the planning stages. Ultimately, this will lead to a smoother installation process in the field.

The program will be held on Thursday, May 23 at Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse’s Tide Point office: 5 pm – pizza and refreshments; 5:30 – 7:30 pm – interactive program. Space is limited to the first 30 people. After May 8th, the program will be open to engineering students and is expected to fill up quickly. Checks should be made out and mailed to AIA Baltimore to secure your spot. The price for Associate AIA members is $10 and $15 for non-members. Earn 2 AIA/CES(HSW) credits with registration (which can be used to fulfill IDP requirements.)

Many thanks to committee members’ efforts in planning the event: Jeff Caldwell, Tom Clippinger – James Posey Associates; Lisa Decker and Josh Quinn – Whiting-Turner; Brian Kuebler, Associate AIA, Ashutosh Belgi – Hord Coplan Macht, Inc.; Todd Garing – Mueller Associates; and John Stahl – Swirnow Building Systems. Thanks to Ken Mills of Struever Bros. Eccles and Rouse for providing us with the space to host our event.
