Project Management and Coordination from the Perspective of the Contractor. Friday, May 4, JHU Recreation Center, 5 pm reception, 5:30-7:30 pm program

From the Producers of Bid Day at Mt. Washington Tavern--We Bring You General Contracting Live and in the Field

Here's what you missed--photos below

There's no better way to learn the general contracting process than to experience it firsthand at an active jobsite. The AIABaltimore Professional Affiliates and Associates Committee are pleased to bring the next step after winning the bid: How to build the project and what are the important considerations to successfully complete a building.

We will tour the new Johns Hopkins University Recreation Center, currently under construction, and then return to Bloomberg Hall for an interactive course in Construction Administration presented by Professional Affiliate committee chair Lisa Decker of Whiting-Turner. We will discuss everything from estimating, scheduling, and project management, to the relationship and teamwork between the owner, designer and contractor.

The program will be held on Friday, May 4, at The Johns Hopkins University: 5 pm - pizza and refreshments; 5:30 - 7:30 - tour and program. Space is limited to the first 30 people. After April 18th, the program will be open to engineering students and is expected to fill up quickly. Checks should be made out and mailed to AIABaltimore to secure your spot. The price for Associate AIA members is $10 and $15 for non-members. Earn 2 AIA/CES (HSW) credits with registration (which can be used to fulfill IDP).

Many thanks to the committee members' effort in planning the event: John Stahl-Swirnow Building Systems, John Nelson - Whiting-Turner, Adam Luginbill, Associate AIA - RTKL, Brian Kuebler, Associate AIA - Hord Coplan Macht, and a special thanks to Lisa Decker - Whiting-Turner, for all her hard work in preparing for the program.
