Come to the Natty Boh Building in Brewer’s Hill, currently being rehabilitated to be Baltimore's premier sustainable building (www.brewershill.net), to find out what’s happening to better our region!
Join us for a moderated town meeting with regional experts, city officials, and grassroots organizations as we discuss energy efficiency, smart growth, tax incentives, future development of our region, mass transit, rehabbing the Baltimore row house and much, much more. Discover hundreds of local and regional resources to incorporate into your home and neighborhood; including grants, tax incentives, neighborhood development initiatives, architects, contractors and green product reps on exhibit at our open house all evening.
Tuesday: March 23, 2004: Film Showing - “The Next Industrial Revolution”

This film, narrated by Susan Sarandon, communicates the work and vision of architect William McDonough and chemist Dr. Michael Braungart, two leaders in a growing movement to transform the relationship between commerce and nature. It has been called “an inspirational look at a hopeful vision of the future. “ Following the screening, there will be a reception and discussion with the producer, Shelley Morhaim of Earthome Productions.

Lawrence Scarpa co-founded Pugh + Scarpa architects in 1991. The firm's work, which includes a variety of cultural, institutional, public and private buildings, has been acclaimed for its innovative use of building materials and for promoting sustainable design and construction. Scarpa is also a co-founder of Livable Places, Inc., a nonprofit development company dedicated to building mixed-use housing on underutilized and problematic parcels of land. Over the last four years, Pugh + Scarpa has received over twenty major design awards including six national AIA Honor Awards, 2003 Record Interiors, 2003 Rudy Bruner Prize, 2003 AIA COTE “Top Ten Green Building” Award and is one of ten finalists worldwide for the World Habitat Award.

Baltimore Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute (BCSI) presents this annual event of professional education, with an emphasis on sustainable design. Speakers will include developers, architects, engineers, and constructors who will relate their experiences and lessons learned while engaged in sustainably designed and constructed commercial and residential projects. The product exhibition will feature many interesting products from numerous local and national manufacturers, including many environmentally friendly products.
Cost to attend the full day of seminars:
- CSI and AIA members: $175.00
- Non-members: $250.00
- Early registration: Register before March 1 and receive a $50.00 discount.
