COTE (Committee on the Environment) Presents:
SPOTLIGHT ON GREEN DESIGN
Gunpowder Falls Visitor Services Center
January 16, 2003
A series highlighting Baltimore-area firms and their sustainable design projects
GWWO, Inc./Architects will kick off the 2003 Forum Series on Green Design Thursday, January 16, with their presentation of the Gunpowder Falls Visitor Services Center. This 7,500 sf facility will offer amenities for the public as well as park rangers and lifeguards. This project is being developed specifically for the Hammerman Area Beach at Gunpowder Falls State Park, the only developed state-owned bathing beach in the Baltimore area. GWWO, Inc./Architects has worked closely with the Department of General Services (DGS) to develop this project according to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED criteria, with the intention of obtaining a Silver Certification.
The Committee on the Environment (COTE) is pleased to present six exciting programs for 2003 that will highlight practical applications of “green design.” We invite you to join us to learn firsthand how these environmentally-smart projects are conceived, designed and built. Our goal is to develop a robust dialogue between owners, developers, brokers, architects, consultants, contractors and users, regarding the real world issues of sustainable design. Space is limited, so please mail your check to AIABaltimore now.
Each program will begin at 6 p.m. in the Posey Room of the Engineer’s Society of Baltimore, 11 W. Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore.
