Plant Tour at Emory Knoll Farm, Sept. 6, 2003

Join AIABaltimore’s Committee on the Environment and the Baltimore Construction Specification Institute (BCSI) for a plant tour at Emory Knoll Farm on Saturday, September 6. Ed Snodgrass of Emory Knoll Farms will speak on plant considerations and selection criteria for green roofs; Professor Ed Beattie, Penn State University, will speak about understanding green roof media, composition, performance and selection.

We will meet at Emory Knoll Farms (http://www.greenroofplants.com) at 9:30 a.m. for registration and a brief introduction. After the two 1-hour presentations, we will have lunch and a tour of the facilities. Afterwards, all interested persons are invited to go to the Magco facilities in Jessup where we will receive a brief presentation and tour of their planted roof. Magco has installed numerous planted roofs in the Washington/Baltimore region.

BCSI will have a follow-up session on Thursday, September 11, at their monthly chapter meeting with a panel discussion on planted roof design and leak detection at planted and protected systems.

The tour costs $20 to offset lunch and speaker costs. Contact Ken Hercenberg, khercenberg@rtkl.com, to reserve your space. Please state dietary requirements at that time. Advance reservations required. 2 AIA/CES (HSW) credits available with registration.

BCSI’s Thursday meeting cost $25 in advance, $28 at the door. 1 AIA/CES (HSW) credit available with registration. See www.baltimorecsi.org for more information and to make reservations.
