Spring Lunchtime Seminars

Once again, AIABaltimore offers a series of product and service seminars to its members free this spring. Professional affiliate members will host and provide lunch to those members who reserve in advance. All seminars will be held on Wednesdays from noon – 1:30 pm in the AIABaltimore Gallery and earn 1.5 AIA/CES credits with registration. May 1 Using New AIA Documents to Market Expanded Services

Victor O. Schinnerer & Company, Inc. Joe Jones, AIA, will cover the new Scope of Service documents now being crafted by the AIA Contract Documents Committee, and examine how to integrate these into the terms and conditions of B141-1997. The program will explore how these new documents can help architects market expanded services and provide clients with focused professional skills.

May 8 Introduction to Acoustics 101

Armstrong Ceiling Products. Brian Siffel will explain how and why acoustics matters in commercial construction, with real world acoustical problems and the product expert’s recommended solutions. The seminar will include product evaluation and the specification process. Studies demonstrate that workplace noise increases stress, while it reduces worker effectiveness and satisfaction. Learn about integrated design solutions.

May 15 Expecting Something?

PSA Financial Center. Barry Skinner on behalf of Federal Kemper Insurance Company will present a program on client expectations versus what can reasonably be expected from the design professional. A related presentation will address the risk management process of client selection.
