Monthly Continuing Education Program

AIABaltimore Annual Meeting at Loyola, Tuesday, November 14, 5:30 PM, with Bernard Cywinski

Come view Baltimore's recently completed Sellinger School of Business at Loyola College, a premier example of how architecture is transforming campuses and attracting new students.

Tour Loyola College of Maryland's latest additions on Tuesday, November 14 at AIA Baltimore's Annual Meeting. The reception begins at 5:30, followed by the business program at 6. The tour will follow at the end of the program.

In addition to the business school, we will briefly tour the student union building, completed in September 1999, and an addition to the Donnelly Science Center, completed for occupancy in January, 2000.

Featured guest speaker will be Bernard Cywinski, FAIA, of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and prinicipal-in-charge for the business school and science center addition. Cywinski is best known for his award winning educational and institutional projects. He is currently working on the design of the new Liberty Bell Complex, to be located in the first block of Independence Mall in Philadelphia. Bohlin Cywinski Jackson is one of the leading design firms in the country, and recipient of the AIA's 1994 Architecture Firm Award. For additional information, the firm’s web site address is http://www.bcj.com/.

Also speaking will be Kelly Vresilovic, AIA, project manager for the Sellinger School of Business and the Donnelly Science Center addition. Ms. Vresilovic has been at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson since 1987, and specializes in sustainable design, as well as institutional projects.

Our final speaker is George Holback, AIA, of Cho Benn Holback and principal-in-charge of the Andrew White Student Center addition, where our meeting will be held. Holback focuses on historic renovation and adaptive reuse, and his projects have won many awards.

This program is generously sponsored by Loyola College along with several of the contractors and engineers who were involved with these projects: Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, Inc., Whitney, Bailey, Cox and Magnani civil and strucutral engineers, and Bard Rao + Athanus (BR + A) mechanical and electrical engineers.
