2001 Design Awards: The Jury The jury includes chair Elizabeth Kathryn Meyer, Landscape Architect and Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture. Meyer has masters degrees in landscape architecture and historic preservation. In addition to receiving numerous awards, she has written, spoken, and consulted extensively throughout the country. Joseph Atkins, AIA, Associate Principal at VMDO Architects, worked formerly with Peter Waldman in Charlottesville, and Perkins & Will in Chicago and London. He has an M.Arch. from UVA where he also taught in the early 1990s. Atkins’ work is concentrated on architecture and planning for both public schools and colleges and universities. W.G. Clark is the Edmund S. Campbell Professor in the UVA School of Architecture. After first practicing in Charleston, South Carolina, he formed the firm of Clark and Menefee Architects, and later, Clark Architects. In addition to serving on major design awards juries, he has served as design critic at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Among his many awards are three National Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects.
