This year’s jury will meet in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 11. Michael McInturf, AIA is principal of michael mcinturf ARCHITECTS, established in 1995. He works individually, and collaboratively, on a range of projects in various stages of design and construction. Concurrently, he is a full-time Associate Professor of Architecture in the School of Architecture and Interior Design at the University of Cincinnati. The oscillation between his research-based office and the design studio prompted his selection as the 2000 DAAP Annual Award recipient for Outstanding Research and Creative Work. The critical and influential nature of his expanding practice and his increasing impact within the curriculum were cited as the principal reason for his selection.
Joan Tepe Wurtenberger, AIA is partner with Champlin/Haupt. She has a degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP). She is NCARB-certified and is registered in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The firm specializes in Wellness, Corporate, Institutional and Community projects. Wurtenberger is a past president of AIA Cincinnati, sits on the Foundation Board of St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the Leadership Committee for United Way. She also is on the Development Committee for Blessed Sacrament School and Chair of the Parish Facility Committee. John Senhauser, FAIA is principal of his firm, employing five others to assist him in this small project practice. The firm won the AIA Ohio Gold Metal Firm award in 1999. He designs buildings that are nationally-celebrated for their craft, durability, wit and poetic vitality. Since 1985, the firm has received18 design awards (including seven grand awards) from national building journals. Senhauser’s leadership in design has earned him broad esteem; his service to the AIA has strengthened, not just design awareness, but the administrative and ethical resolve of the professional community. His buildings elevate the quality and public perception of design while tirelessly working to reconcile the critical and commercial forces that shape our profession.
