The Architect as Artist: Watercolors Past and Present
Group exhibit presented by the Baltimore Architecture Foundation
An Exhibit in the Gallery
The Baltimore Architecture Foundation is hosting a watercolor exhibit, titled The Architect As Artist: Watercolors Past and Present, during the months of May and June in the AIABaltimore Gallery. Watercolors will range from travel sketches to architectural renderings, extending from the Beaux Arts period to today. The historic work on display will be from the Foundation’s collections as well as pieces on loan from the archives of the long-standing architectural practices in the Baltimore region. Recent work will include that by foremost watercolorists in architecture, such as Thomas Schaller and Frank Constantino, as well as that of local talent found in area design firms. Interspersed in the show will be sketchbook renderings and travel sketches, some of which will be available for purchase.
The exhibit opening reception will be held May 5th for First Thursday from 57:30 p.m. The show will also be opened for viewing on the First Thursday in June (2nd) from 57:30 p.m and during regular AIA hours of 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. On Sunday, June 26 from 1-3 p.m., there will be a closing reception for members of the Baltimore Architecture Foundation and the show’s artists. Be sure to drop by and see these beautiful works of art while they are on display.

Nature’s Architecture: A Closer Look
Photographs by Das Lewand Hagen
An Exhibit in the Bookstore
Form, texture and color, components characteristic of architecture, are the essence of the natural world. Das Lewand Hagen’s intimate perspective of flowers exposes an intricacy of these elements often gone unnoticed. This photography exhibit prompts you to take a closer look.

The artist says “Through the mindful practice of attention and awareness comes a thorough appreciation of all that surrounds us, whether produced naturally or by human design.”
Das has exhibited her work in the New York metropolitan area. She began visiting Baltimore 25 years ago when her brother’s family relocated here. This is her first exhibit in our area. Her work will be on display through June.
