1st Thursday Opening October 4
Join AIABaltimore for our first Thursday opening reception in the AIA Architect’s Bookstore and Gallery on October 4, from 5 7 pm as we welcome David Douglas and Andrew Mezensky.
David Douglas will be exhibiting his paintings and digital images in the gallery during the months of October and November. Douglas is a resident of Alexandria, Virginia and is currently the chairman of the Art Department at Episcopal High School. He received his Bachelors degree from Virginia Intermont College and his Masters degree in fine arts from James Madison University.
Douglas relies on his creative impulses, with no preconceived ideas about the boundaries of his work, and then works at “wrestling it into submission.” He has recently utilized the computer as an instrument of art. Allowing more freedom to respond quickly to his creativity, new depth has been added to his technique. Douglas’ work has been described as fresh, confident and innovative.
A resident of Baltimore, Mezensky has been exhibiting since 1973. Currently underway, his show includes sculptures with the theme of “Fabrications.” He earned his Bachelors degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and Masters degree from the University of New Mexico. Mezensky’s passion for art has led him to teach others. His artwork has been displayed throughout the mid-Atlantic region and New Mexico.
