Golf Outing 2001: The 14th Annual AIABaltimore Golf Outing

Wakefield Valley Golf and Conference Center provided a great setting for another successful AIABaltimore golf outing on August 31. Approximately 175 players participated under sunny skies to shoot some of the best scores this tournament has ever seen. The team of Win Boyer AIA, Peter Boyer, Tim Talbot and David Solley shot an amazing 16-under-par to take first place honors and were awarded at a buffet luncheon after the event.

The Golf Committee would like to thank the following people for their cooperation and support:
Bruce Moffat, Louise Morvay, and the staff of Wakefield Valley Golf & Conference Center; Staff of AIABaltimore: Alan Reed AIA, President; Karen Lewand, executive director; Kristine Carter, assistant director; Adam Blumenthal, administrative assistant; Registration Table Volunteers: Louise Humphries, Price Modern; Judy Price, Arbee Associates.

The Golf Committee would especially like to thank the Masonry Institute of Maryland, Inc. for its generous sponsorship of the golf windshirts; and the following patrons, donors, and sponsors (including annual):

Recently, Karen Lewand discovered a list of those who played in the 5th Annual AIABaltimore Golf Outing on October 23, 1992 who again played this year, and many in between. This group photograph includes the following 21 players (although not in the order shown) who received 25% discount certificates for the AIABaltimore bookstore. You all know a good event when you see it. Congratulations!

Thanks Very Much Win!

This is Win’s last year as chair of the AIABaltimore Golf Outing. Matt Moschel Assoc. AIA assumes the committee chairmanship in 2002.

Win Boyer is not only a great golfer and architect, he is also a great golf outing organizer. Since 1994, Win, along with the members he has recruited to help him, have enjoyed this event, that we were selling out earlier every year, actually several months in advance. A few years ago, we moved our outing to Wakefield Valley where we could accommodate many more players. This year, we sold out two months prior to the event.

Win has also made our golf outing very successful financially. All of our sponsors, large and small, help keep down the costs of playing, and profits help support our other programs, newsletter, and website.

The members and directors of AIABaltimore are very grateful to Win for his dedicated leadership of the golf outing committee and program.
