HAMPTON MANSION TOUR
Wednesday, May 14
5:30 Reception, 67:30 p.m. Program and Tour
Meet at Hampton Mansion
Join us for a special program and tour of the Hampton Mansion. When it was completed in 1790, the Hampton Mansion was the largest private home in America and is considered today to be one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the U.S. Its furnishings, together with the estate's slave quarters and other preserved structures, provide a comprehensive insight into late 18th century and early 19th century life of the landowning aristocracy. Hampton is the first site selected as a Natonal Historic Site by the U.S. National Park Service for its architectural significance.
The focus of our program will be the new geothermal HVAC system, sprinkler, fire detection and other systems which were installed during recent renovations, and their impact on the historic fabric and architecture of the mansion. Tour leaders include representatives from the National Park Service, Constellation Energy and GWWO, Inc. /Architects.
Meeting location, Hampton Mansion. Specific meeting location TBD. Directions: From the Baltimore Beltway (I 695) eastbound or westbound: Take Exit 27B, Dulaney Valley Road northbound. Take the first right turn onto Hampton Lane. The park will be on your right, about one mile from the intersection. $10/AIA members, $5/ students, $25/ public. RSVP to AIABaltimore with payment. Space is limited! 1.5 AIA/CES (HSW) credits with registration.
