Stone Hill Historic District: September 26, 2006
On Tuesday, September 26 join the Historic Resources Committee for a program and tour of Stone Hill Historic District, constructed circa 1845-1847. The Stone Hill Historic District is one of the original mill villages along the Jones Falls developed to house textile mill workers. Join us to learn about the history and importance of the Mt. Vernon Mills, now rehabbed as the Mill Centre, and the adjacent mill houses in the historic district. We will visit the big mill-owner’s house, and some of the smaller mill-workers’ houses. Speakers include Peter Pearre, AIA, and Mark Thistel, host and owner of the big mill-owner’s house.
Meeting location, 732 Pacific St., Baltimore. Parking is available at the nearby Stieff Silver building. 5:30 reception; 6 7 program and tour. $10 AIA members, $5 students, $25 non-members. RSVP to AIA with payment. Space is limited.
