AIABaltimore Professional Affiliate Committee presents
SARAH SUSANKA, AIA – Lecture, Exhibit & Book Signing

Home by Design example

Sarah Susanka, AIA Home by Design example

Sarah Susanka, best-selling author, award-winning architect, and champion of the Not So Big movement, has changed the way people are thinking about their homes. She has recently introduced her fourth very popular book, Home by Design: Transforming Your House into Home. This groundbreaking new book examines the key concepts behind well-designed homes. Organized into three sections – Space, Light, and Order – Home by Design unveils a single design principle in each chapter; what it is, how and why it works, and how the homeowner can use it.

“It might look effortless on television or in a magazine, but when it comes to making your own home a place that delights you, you’ll quickly discover there are lots of things you need to know that require skill and training. Although architects and interior designers have the knowledge to help you, what’s missing is a way to describe spatial experience that is understandable to anyone with a desire for a comfortable and beautiful home. What’s needed is a look inside the architect’s ‘toolbox’ – the principles architects use to sculpt space and light, to imbue their creations with a sense of order, and in so doing, turn basic square footage and volume into exceptional living space.” – Sarah Susanka, Home By Design.

Sarah Susanka, AIA will speak on Thursday, November 4 at 6 p.m. at the Goucher College Kraushaar Auditorium, 1021 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson. A special exhibit begins at 5 p.m. and the lecture will be followed by the author’s signing of her new book, Home by Design. Tickets are $20/person, $10/students, associates, and seniors. They are also available in groups of 11/$200. Please send your check to AIABaltimore, 11 ½ W. Chase St., Baltimore, MD 21201. This program is hosted by our Professional Affiliates Committee.
