Based on the AIA Computer Aided Practice Personal Interest Area, examines and presents topics concerning the use of technology, computer hardware and software, and their strategic application in the practice of architecture.

20072008 Technology in Practice Lecture Series: Technology, Past, Present and Future
The Baltimore AIA Technology in Practice Committee is pleased to present a three part series on Building Information Modeling. This series is intended to provide the audience with an understanding of how this revolutionary technology is changing the way architects, engineers and construction professionals work. The series will culminate with a panel discussion of experts in our field discussing how technology can, does, and will benefit our industry.

The series topics are:
Introduction to BIM An introduction to Building Information Modeling and its applications in the design and construction industry.
Wednesday, October 24, 2007, 5:30 to 7:00
BIM Case Study A presentation of a case study where BIM was used in the design and documentation of a building project.
Thursday, November 8, 2007, 5:30 to 7:00
Panel Discussion Panelists from the Architectural, Engineering and Construction industries will discuss BIM and its current and potential impact on the building industry.
Thursday, February 7, 2008, 6:00 to 8:00
The series will be held at the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. School of Engineering, 241 Schaeffer Building, Morgan State University, 5200 Perring Parkway, Baltimore, MD 21251.
These programs are FREE to Students, and AIA members. A $15 fee will be charged for non-AIA members seeking continuing education credits (1.5 AIA/CES (HSW) credits for each program). Please send payment to AIABaltimore.
