April 2001 Program Press Release

Hands On: Designing a Website
Lloyd Unsell, Jr., Executive Director of AIA Potomac Valley, will present the website design process, Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at 6:00 PM

Baltimore, Maryland — On Tuesday, April 24, 2001 beginning at 6:00 PM, The AIABaltimore Technology in Practice (TiPC) Committee will hold its monthly meeting at the Baltimore offices of Cho Benn Holback + Architects located at 200 North Charles Street.
Have you thought about designing a website for your firm? Well, NOW is your chance to learn how! This month’s presentation will feature Lloyd Unsell, Jr., Executive Director of AIA Potomac Valley. Designing websites since 1995, Mr. Unsell has created sites for AIA components, legal and architectural firms, non-profit groups, churches, and private citizens. He will walk us through how to get a domain name, find web space, use and produce web graphics, use FTP (File transfer protocol), use HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), and how to promote your site! He has conducted seminars on website design for the Council of Architectural Component Executives (CACE), and members of his chapter. To view some of the sites designed, visit http://www.pvwebdesign.com.

Beginning promptly at 6:00 PM, the cost, payable in advance, is $5.00 for AIA members, Affiliates, and Students and $10.00 for non-AIA members. Contact the Baltimore AIA Chapter office at 410/625-2585 for further details.

"Lloyd's 2001 Web Toolkit," a CD-ROM with nearly 500 MB of Web, graphics and Internet freeware and shareware, is available by mail. Use to create and transfer web sites and use the Internet.
