Technology in Buildings: Creativity Is the Power to Connect the Seemingly Unconnected, Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at 6:00 PM
Maryland Interactive Distance Learning Network (MIDLN) will present the development of the fiber optic network linking business and education for training, meetings and resource sharing.
Baltimore, Maryland On Tuesday, May 22, 2001, beginning at 6:00 PM, The AIABaltimore Technology in Practice (TiPC) Committee will hold its monthly meeting at the Baltimore offices of Gensler, one of the most influential design firms, according to Fast Company magazine.
This months presentation will be provided by The Maryland Interactive Distance Learning Network (MIDLN), who will share how this fiber optic technology is being implemented. This two-way video and audio network connects over 100 sites throughout Maryland, including colleges, instructors, business training, meetings and resource sharing.
Each MIDLN classroom is specially designed to make instruction as effective as possible, with each room equipped with television monitors, speakers, and microphones. While the instructor may be physically located at only one site, one can simultaneously see, hear, and communicate with their instructor or classmates even if they are located at a different campus.
Beginning promptly at 6:00 PM, Genslers offices are located at 300 West Pratt Street Suite 275 in Baltimore, Maryland. The cost, payable in advance, is $5.00 for AIA members, Affiliates, and Students and $10.00 for non-AIA members. Contact the Baltimore AIA Chapter office at 410/625-2585 for further details.
The AIA Baltimore Technology in Practice (TiPC) Committee examines and presents the use of technology to the design of buildings and the practice of architecture.
