TECHNOLOGY IN PRACTICE COMMITTEE PRESENTS:
KEEPING PACE WITH THE HIGH-TECH WORLD WITHIN THE WOOD AND MILLWORK INDUSTRY
The AIA Technology in Practice (TiP) committee will begin its monthly program series beginning Tuesday, October 22 at 6 pm at the manufacturing facilities of LCM Associates, an established millwork manufacturing company located at 1700 Ridgely Street in South Baltimore.
LCM Associates will conduct a tour of their new facilities and provide an in-depth look at the technology that drives the woodworking industry today. This will include a look at various products needed to produce sustainable and environmentally-friendly wood materials of tomorrow. A demonstration of computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment like routers, boring machines and panel saws cutting and machining product parts will be highlighted. Current wood finishing techniques, state of the art UV Role Coat finishing system that applies a non-VOC wood finish will also be presented. To help preserve our natural resources, Chesapeake Plywood and Trespa North America will be on hand to demonstrate some alternative products currently in use. Not everybody knows what “solid phenolic casework” might be in a world of “green architecture” this is a must see demonstration.
