Baltimore Zoning Reform: Conference on Comprehensive Rezoning, October 25

Through its Urban Design Committee, AIABaltimore is working with the Baltimore City Department of Planning as it examines and revises its zoning code. As part of this process, we are conducting an all-day conference to discuss the comprehensive rezoning of Baltimore City. Guest speakers include:
Stanton Eckstut FAIA, Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects PC of New York City, who has created award-winning architecture, plans, and urban spaces throughout the country including Battery Park City and Baltimore's Inner Harbor East.
Stuart Meck, FAICP, nationally-renowned zoning practitioner for the American Planning Association in Chicago, who is researching recent zoning code revisions in other major cities.
Bob Stacey, Jr., a lawyer and planner who is chief of staff for Congressman Earl Blumenauer, has more than 25 years experience in Oregon and Portland land use planning and public policy.
The Conference will be held Thursday, October 25 from 8 am 3 pm at The University of Maryland School of Nursing auditorium downtown.
The conference will have concurrent sessions allowing participants to discuss specific zoning issues which may include: parking conflicts in residential neighborhoods abutting commercial uses; the definition and location of live entertainment; commercial strips; inclusionary zoning that will allow for mixed uses; down-zoning because of the depopulation of the City; managing the location of group homes; transit-oriented development; historic preservation.
